But what’s SEO? SEO is search engine optimization. In other words, SEO is what you do on your end to make sure that, when someone googles products or services like the ones you’re promoting, your website turns up in the search.
Do your SEO right, in fact, and you get your website in the highly coveted Top 10 results – the results that the majority of people who have performed a search ultimately click on.
You see, the entire job of the search engines is to satisfy users by returning results that are relevant to the searchers’ wants and needs. The search engines don’t exist to help you promote your business – that’s your job.You’ve got to make sure that you do what’s necessary to show the search engines exactly what your website and business are all about so they can direct you to the people who are actually interested in what you have to offer.
The first – but by far not the only – step to doing good SEO is to figure out what keywords or key phrases you need to use. What are those? Keywords and phrases are the terms that people type into search engines to get results.
In other words, if your business promotes dog-training products, you’re not going to be talking about chameleons. That’s obvious. But you’re also going to want to make sure that the content on your website talks about dog training. Again, that’s fairly obvious.
Here’s the non-obvious part, or at least non-obvious for most newbies: You can also do a search to determine which keywords people are most likely to search on when they want dog-training products. Using those terms in your Web content, in your meta tags, and in your HTML coding will make it easier for the search engines to do what you want them to do – put your website in front of the people who are interested in buying dog-training-related products.
Utilize SEO Marketing Wisely
Of course, this is a pretty simplistic explanation. There is more about SEO that you need to know to make it work like the charm it is. For example, you can’t just load all of your content with keywords and hope to make that work.
For one thing, that’s the quickest way to turn off your potential audience and get a reputation as someone to be ignored. And for another, Google and the other search engines have algorithms that spot that sort of thing and your website will be “Google slapped,” or removed from the rankings, for doing it.
But don’t let yourself be overwhelmed. There are several available resources to help you learn more about SEO, including here on MLM Files. And if necessary, you can hire a contractor to do your initial content for you while you learn the ropes.
The point is, though, that you can’t just open a ClickBank account, set up your website, and start promoting products. You also need to put some planning and skill into your efforts in order to succeed. Have fun and good luck!
